Our pirates will be up to no good, live in the studio with Heidi, Jayson and Cyril…… we hopes the scallywags don’t bring disgrace to Mahone Bay….ARRRRR!

2011 MAHONE BAY PIRATE FESTIVAL & REGATTA July 29-31

The Regatta kicks off on Friday, July 29th at 1830 hrs with a Pirate Boat Parade in the Mahone Bay Harbour, saluting the Pirate Captains in residence on the veranda at the Mug & Anchor. This rising tide event is open to all boats, sail, power and paddle. All vessels and crews should dress for the occasion in best pirate fashion and prizes will be awarded for the best turned out.
Yacht Racing will take place on Saturday and Sunday starting at 1200 hrs each day. Principal Race Officer is Jay Hooper, and there are three classes. Registration and skippers meeting are at 8:30AM and 10AM respectively at the Mug & Anchor Pub

Prizes will be awarded each day, and boats entered for both days will qualify for the Mahone Bay Regatta Trophies.

The Xtreme Cardboard Boat Building and subsequent Race will take place on Sunday at the Mahone Bay Wharf.

The Regatta is organized and run in the spirit of fun, camaraderie, competition, sportsmanship, and festiveness. We welcome the participation of a wide variety of mono- and multi-hulls, centerboard and keelboats, racers and cruisers.

The Mahone Bay Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the 2011 Mahone Bay Pirate Festival and Regatta on July 29, 30, and 31. The festival continues to build on twenty-two successful years of the Wooden Boat Festival and last year’s first ever Mahone Bay Regatta featuring Pirate Days. It’s all about a community’s celebration of our region’s historic relationship with the sea. Classic boats, pirate artifacts, marauding buccaneers, musicians and competitive sailing events will entertain and engage the whole family. Mahone Bay has been a treasure since 1754 and the pirates are coming to find it.
